Math is comprised of a series of building blocks. Each block is laid one on top of another. If a child doesn’t have a firm grasp on a foundational building block or concept, the next block cannot be put into place and the child cannot move on. Since many students are missing foundational "building blocks", skill-based testing will target weaknesses and with individualized instruction the student will overcome or eliminate those weaknesses and succeed.
